A new digital experience for Ekakanya, designed to bring its mission, programmes and stories of change closer to the people who matter.

The Project
A digital home for Ekakanya’s mission

Ekakanya Foundation works with girls and young women in rural Rajasthan — through education, mentoring, leadership and economic empowerment — from its base in Block Bassi, Jaipur. The name means “the girl child” in Sanskrit.
Ruckus designed and developed ekakanya.org: one place for the foundation’s mission, its programmes — Project Parinati and the Rural KPO — its impact, and the stories of the young women at the centre of its work.

The challenge
A foundation like Ekakanya has many layers to communicate at once. The work was to organise every one of them into a clear experience — without reducing the girls and women at its heart to a row of statistics.

Design objectives
Five things every page had to do
- 01
Clarity
Make the mission understandable in one screen.
- 02
Humanity
Keep real people and their journeys at the centre.
- 03
Structure
Make programmes, impact and information easy to explore.
- 04
Credibility
Show the evidence — research, reports and numbers — openly.
- 05
Action
Make it obvious how a visitor can take part.
Information architecture
Six top-level destinations, two grouped menus. The structure follows the questions a visitor actually asks — who, what, what changed, how to help — so the order of the menu is the order of the story.

How do I reach the team?
The homepage
The whole story, in one scroll
The homepage is built as a narrative, not a directory: mission, proof, approach, programmes, impact, people — and then a way to reach the team.

- 01Welcome
Say who — then prove it
A short introduction set beside three numbers: change-leaders trained, first-generation earners, women and adolescents impacted.

- 02Our intervention
Explain the approach
Where Ekakanya works and who with — then four pillars, each a photo-led card.

- 03Our programs
Show the ways in
Project Parinati, Higher Education Support, Employment and Skills — each leading into the programme pages.

- 04Our impact
Outcomes, told as change
Marriage delays, health awareness, academic dreams — written as what changed for the girls.

- 05Stories of change
End with a person
A slider of individual journeys, so the last thing a visitor meets is a name and a face.

- 06Footer
Make the next step easy
Phone, address, email and hours, the full site map and the foundation’s social channels.

Storytelling
Every number on the site has a person behind it, so the design keeps finding room for them: a story slider closes the homepage, and Project Parinati gives its change leaders full profiles, each in her own name.
On the homepage slider
- Ritu, from Ekakanya’s first batch
- Rinku Rises Through Resilience
- Change Leader Asha
- Sangeeta the Force Multiplier
- Jhankar Chooses Learning Over Limits

Impact
These outcomes belong to Ekakanya and the girls it works with. Our part was designing how they are communicated: numbers paired with plain-language explanation, outcomes told as change, and the evidence one click away.

Programmes · Project Parinati
Launched in 2015, Parinati works with girls and young women aged 17–22 and above over a 2.5-year journey. Its page reads like the programme itself: what it is, what is taught, who is involved, how each batch grew — and who it became.

01The promise
“Empowering Rural Girls to Become Change Leaders” — over a photograph of a Parinati session, with a short film one click away.
02About the programme
What Parinati is, who it is for and how long it runs — beside photographs of the girls themselves.
03Training & curriculum
Five modules in a tabbed panel: one click per module, instead of one long wall of text.
04Community development
The families and villages around each girl — with community meetings, members and villages counted.
05What sets it apart · Batches
Tailored training, cultural insight, hands-on impact — then each batch, year by year.
06In numbers
Four figures with icons: change leaders, university students, KPO employment, years of impact.
07Stories of change leaders
Long-form profiles — Lalita, Ritu, Sunita, Itishree, Rachna and more — before one closing call: “Join Parinati”.
The second programme
Rural KPO — the same pattern, from training to livelihoods.
An all-women Knowledge Process Outsourcing centre in Bassi gets its own page: what it does, its key achievements in numbers, and the questions visitors ask about digital training — answered one by one.

Responsive experience
Designed for the screen in your hand
Desktop, tablet and phone each get their own layout: columns stack, cards become a single readable column, the menu folds away — and the story keeps its order.
